13Jun2017 What a difference 1 year can make! 🙌🏼💜 The photo on the left was taken one year ago and 5 months after my 2nd concussion in less than 2 years. I was deep in recovery mode and healing my brain was my top priority. My body had already done a lot of healing from the initial car accident and concussion, but the effects of not being able to be physically active had taken their toll on my body. 〰 Fast forward to a year after that picture to the one on the right. I see a much more healed version of myself. In the fall of last year (roughly 3 or 4 months after the picture on the left) I started working with an Athletic Therapist at the gym to help my body regain strength and heal, not only physically but heal on a emotional and mental level as well. Being more physically active has helped me to heal my mind, body and soul. Regaining my self confidence and sense of self along the way. 〰 You will never hear me refer to pictures as before and after because this journey to healing is not done yet. Healing is just that.. a process that is not linear. Along this path there have been many set backs, times where I had to take weeks off at a time to heal myself emotionally before I could move forward. What I want you to know is that this transformation did not happen over night and it is so much more than what you see on the surface. It took lots of dedication to wanting to get better and perseverance through lots of physical and emotional pain. There were many mental hurdles as well. I never realized the toll PTSD, recovering from a car accident and concussions could have on a person.
